Flow of Day 1
|
Summary of Day 1Max opened the day with a welcome and framing session. Explaining that our theme for the day was to begin to build our flock, know who was here, what they were bringing and working with and to get ready to fly together. This was followed by a check in to really sense how the group was feeling.
James then taught the Four Fold Practice Model and invited people to stand in the practice that they felt they had the most to learn about. The whole group then fed back on connections and patterns that were emerging for them in the model and the interconnectedness of each. Next, we moved into Circle Practice. This is where the group individually and collectively broke down more barriers and began to feel more comfortable with becoming vulnerable and doing some deep listening. The Question we were working with was " What are you yearning for?" Each group fed back some core patterns : Fearlessness: Truth:Peace: For things to be better: To die happy: To allow myself to be loved: To be the best of this world: To be authentic, connected and compassionate: To have the space and time to find my purpose: More connectivity and acceptance. From that we went into thinking about the Chaordic Path. Easing into something that could have been quite dense theory with a wonderful football game that showed the way that we can organize ourselves to create the conditions to self organize and grow. That the world is inherently chaotic and we can bring some order, but if its too much order we end up in control. I’ll never watch a game of football in the same way again! We then had a talk from Adam, a local Brightonian about his work for the Trust for Community Development. After a delicious lunch provided by the inspirational Real Junk Food Project, we moved into a Harvest teach by James, and then moved into a really insightful appreciative inquiry. We worked in Trios ( one speaker, one listener and one witness ) and told each other stories of times when we had really experienced in the past the very things we were yearning for. We harvested some of the core conditions that were necessary for this to happen and what we needed more of as a result. We ended the day with some journaling and reflection time to create some space to ground ourselves and give ourselves some space for things to settle. After reconvening into a circle for a checkout we parted ways, some for a rest, some into coaching to be hosts tomorrow, all eager for what tomorrow had in store for us! |
